Micro.blog reduced friction between writing and publishing content
The reason why I choose to pay for micro.blog to host my blog posts (even though I have been running a free, plaintext, static website using Quarto and GitHub pages for years) is because it significantly reduces friction between writing and posting content to the internet.
Previously, I would capture my thoughts and ideas in individual notes. But then I would get bogged down trying to figure out how to retrieve information in my notes and how to best organize them.
With micro.blog, non of that decision making is there. The interface is distraction free and lets me focus on the text. Once I am done writing, I can post it directly.
From time to time (and only if I choose to do so), I go through the posts I have made and piece them together into longer forms of writing. Such a simple realization but a powerful one. Rather than constantly trying to perfect one, long blog post, I carefully write multiple, short posts with the intent of publishing them.
